For those of you who aren’t familiar, FareShare fight hunger and food waste.
They redistribute surplus food from the food industry to frontline charity & community groups that support vulnerable people in need. They feed over 933k people per week!
This is essential work as 1 in 8 people in the UK currently struggle to afford a meal.
2.2 million people in the UK are living in severe food insecurity, which is shocking particularly when you take into account the scale of food waste. With at least 270,000 tonnes of food being wasted every year.
FareShare are tackling this and are the UK’s largest redistribution charity, playing a huge part in fixing this serious issue.
FareShare supply 57.3 million meals per year to over 10 thousand charities and we are proud to play a part in this.
In 2020, Baxters donated 56.9 tonnes of product to FareShare alone, which is the equivalent to an impressive 135,479 meals!
